Unsightly or ugly / old Crowns

The problems with unsightly or old Crowns
Unsightly crowns are often due to the material that they are made from. Some crowns have a metal substructure with porcelain built over to produce the crown. If the crown margin is prepared above the gum, or the gum has receded with age, the crown margin may become visible and appear unsightly to the patient.
‘Why do my Crowns look unsightly?’
The most common cause of an unsightly crown is either because of colour, shape, size or the fact that the gum has receded back which therefore has left the crown margins revealed.
How we treat unsightly Crowns
Unsightly crowns in general will more often than not require replacement.
At Tracey Bell if the colour, shape or size of the crown is incorrect we will ensure that your new crown is colour matched and produced by our team of dental technicians to perfectly match and compliment your remaining teeth.
New Ceramic Crowns
Ceramic Crowns are metal free crowns, using ceramic cores under the porcelains. This achieves greater strength than porcelain-only Crowns and a superior cosmetic effect compared to Metal Bonded Crowns. At Tracey Bell, we believe only the best will do for you, so for the perfect smile, only Ceramic Crowns will do.
